About Berlin Clowns

Berlin Clowns is a community resource whose goal is to help strengthen and spotlight the clown scene in Berlin by providing a vision of the scene as it is, and a resource to connect those who are connected to clowning either as clowns themselves, directors, new to clowning, or interested in the art form.

The Berlin Clown Gazzette

The Gazzette (the extra z is intentional, and is a nod to the italian origin of the english term) is the creative and artistic project of jye (jyeartstudio.com). It documents the clown scene in Berlin through show reviews and interviews, but unlike other entertainment journalism, the point of view character stays present throughout the articles. It also presents a Berlin through a fantastical lens. Based in reality, but diverging int the surreal, wondrous, and absurd. One of the goals is that readers could get to know this fictional version of Berlin as well as the fictional characters who inhabit it by reading the Gazzette over time.

The project is a culmination of the artist's love of clowning (which preceded and originally inspired their career in the arts), and the fictional worldbuilding skills they developed by hosting table top roleplaying games. They work in science journalism, having published many articles on environmental topics (urbancruiseship.org), and solutions to address the crisis. They bring together this more academic approach along with creative writing in hopes of creating a newspaper which is filled with wonder, important insights, and educational content.
